This rarity is precisely what makes Mireu-seom one of September's most talked-about day-trip destinations. It is within easy day-trip distance from Seoul, and it offers a floral peak that comes around just once a year.
What You Will See on Mireu-seom
Mireu-seom sits inside Geumgang Singwan Park (금강신관공원) in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province. Cosmos and sunflowers are the headline act, but chrysanthemums and other varieties fill the beds as well, giving the flower fields a richer palette than a single crop could. The sight of golden yellow and soft pink washing across the island in every direction is difficult to appreciate until you are standing in it.
There is no admission fee. The island is freely and openly accessible, making it an easy, low-commitment outing for families, solo photographers, or anyone passing through Gongju.
Getting There
Mireu-seom is located in central Gongju and is straightforward to reach. By car, enter 금강신관공원 or 공주 미르섬 into your navigation app and it will take you directly there. Parking is available around the park; from the lot you walk into the island on foot. On September weekends and during peak bloom, the area can get crowded, so arriving early in the morning gives you the most relaxed experience in the flower fields.
